 Course Title: GC CCS Research Forum 2023

 


I. Details of the event/activity


        On December 5, 2023, an exciting and impactful event unfolded at the Gordon College Function Hall, organized by the GC CCS Department—the GC CCS Research Forum. During this forum, 3rd-year and selected 4th-year students showcased their research and capstone projects as part of their final requirements for their respective subjects. The event welcomed a diverse audience to witness the impressive presentations.

 

II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)


         The GC CCS Research Forum transcended being a mere exhibition of projects; it served as a valuable repository of educational experiences for both participants and attendees. Students enhanced their ability to articulate intricate ideas, refining their presentation skills in the process. The ensuing question-and-answer sessions after each presentation not only allowed students to defend their work but also facilitated a deeper comprehension of the subject matter.


            For those in attendance, the forum provided an insight into the upcoming world of technology and how it might affect various aspects of society. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of working together across different fields and stressed how crucial technology is in dealing with today's challenges.

 

III. Reflections on possibilities of implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learning)


        The forum provided a glimpse into the future of technology for the audience, emphasizing the need for continuous learning and adaptation. It underscored the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration, highlighting how technology intersects with various aspects of society to address contemporary challenges.


            The presented projects served as a link between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, motivating participants to reflect on the societal implications of their work. The audience can learn a lot by simply listening to the panelists and presenters.


IV. Positive Feedback (on the event organization)


            GC CCS Research Forum was widespread and affirming. Attendees were impressed by the innovative and diverse array of projects, praising the students for their creativity and ability to address a wide spectrum of topics. The effective communication skills demonstrated during presentations received acclaim, with attendees commending the students for their clear and engaging delivery of complex ideas. The practical relevance of the showcased projects was recognized, underscoring the students' understanding of real-world challenges and their capacity to propose impactful solutions.


V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/considered for future activities


            Regarding potential improvements, I'd like to suggest that they make their microphones and speakers clearer and louder so that everyone, even at the back, can hear what is being ask as well as the presenter's answers. Lastly, make sure that the audiences are quiet.
